– Applications for this grant close 9 March 2012
– Decisions will be advised in June 2012
– Funded projects can start 1 July 2012
The Dance and Music Initiative supports choreographers, dancers, composers and/or musicians to work collaboratively to create and develop innovative, new dance/music work. Priority will be given to proposals that incorporate live musical performance as an integral part in the final presentation of the work.
The intention of the initiative is to encourage new collaborative relationships. The integrity of the collaborative process is an important consideration and applications leading to work where dance and music components contribute equally will be well regarded. Projects may not re-use existing dance or music material and must consist of original music and choreography. Previous recipients (either applicants or key creative partners) of the 2011 Dance and Music Initiative are not eligible to re-apply in 2012. Applicants unsuccessful in the 2011 round are eligible to reapply but we encourage applicants to discuss their application with an appropriate program staff member.
Individual artists, groups and organisations from a wide variety of dance and music practices are encouraged to apply.
As the minimum, an initial staging or development of the proposed new work must take place by 31 December 2013.
