            <description>The 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture will be held in Melbourne from 3-6 October 2011. The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) and the Australia Council for the Arts are now seeking your suggestions for keynote speakers, panellists or presenters who can successfully address the Summit’s theme of &#039;creative intersections&#039;. The World Summit will investigate how the arts can give voice to different communities and concerns through collaborations with other sectors such as business and the economy, new technologies, health and well-being, the environment, education and identity through Indigenous, local and global cultures. Schools engage an artist for up to 20 days to work with students and teachers on a creative project, which may be in any art form.             <description>Aphids (based in Melbourne), Punctum (based in Castlemaine) and Castlemaine State Festival are joining forces to assist 2 young and emerging Australian artists working with the moving image (video/ animation / film/machinima/expanded cinema and more) to undertake unique professional and creative development hosted by Punctum at its Incubator space.  Selected mentorees will be matched with mentors Paul Fletcher and Miles Bennett, and each receive a cash contribution of $2000 as well as accommodation and residency at Punctum&#039;s Incubator.  Outcomes of the mentorship will have the potential to be exhibited and screened at the Castlemaine State Festival in 2011.  Applications close 5pm, Wednesday 4 August.             <description>The Lock-Up Cultural Centre is now calling for submissions for the 2011 Residency Program.  The residency program is a core focus of the centre&#039;s cultural activity with a multi-disciplinary focus. For the past four years, the program has played host to visual artists, writers, poets, film-makers, performers, designers and architects and actively encourages submissions from a broad range of disciplines.             <description>Each year the Asialink Residency program sends 40 Australian writers, performers, artists and arts managers to live and work throughout Asia.  The grant of up to $12,000 goes towards travel, living and project expenses, and affords recipients the opportunity for in-depth research, stimulating cultural exchanges, international collaboration and uninterrupted time for creativity.  Residencies are available in the following artform areas: arts management, writing, performing arts, and visual arts.   Applications for 2011 residencies are now open, and close on 10 September 2010. This month&#039;s speakers include: Suzanne Boccalatte is a Graphic Designer whose work is represented in major galleries including National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum; Nic Moore practices as a demi-­architect with Peter Stutchbury on Sydney’s Northern Beaches; Kelly Robson is a businesswoman whose sole focus is showcasing the best of new Australian design;  Faye Maramara is the owner and principle designer of Paro Paro, a fashion accessories and decoratives business which draws inspiration from ancient and contemporary art and culture; and Troy Lum was the head of Dendy Films from 1998 – ­2002 and is currently a board member of Screen NSW.             <description>Each year, Australian rural and regional artists are invited to investigate their practice in Ashfield.  In 2007 the program was extended to international artists. Included is accommodation at Thirning Villa + $200 per wk allowance.  The Ashfield Council Artist in Residence Program is an unique initiative where Ashfield Council hosts a practising artist for a residency at the historic Thirning Villa in Pratten Park.  Ashfield provides a rich environment for the artist to develop meaningful cultural exhange.  During the residency, which is usually a minimum of three months, the artist assists Ashfield residents to express their aspirations through the arts.             <description>Under the artists resale royalty scheme commercial resales of artworks must be reported and a 5% royalty is payable on some resales.  The Australian government has appointed Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) to manage the scheme.  Key features of the scheme: it applies to resales of existing as well as new works; it applies to a range of original artworks, included limited edition prints authorised by the artist;  it does not apply to a private sale from one individual to another;  a royalty is not payable on the first change of hands after 9 June, but all resales must be reported;  a royalty is not payable on resales for under $1,000; and  the scheme will be extended to artworks from countries that have similar schemes.             <description>The Artists in Residence (AIR) program in 2010 places professional artists in selected Queensland primary and secondary schools to give students better access to creative opportunities in the classroom and to give teachers engaging arts experiences and resources.  AIR is a collaboration between the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Queensland and Education Queensland to provide an Artist in Residence program that recognises good practice and encourages innovation in arts and education programs in Queensland. AIR funding in 2010 is open to Queensland schools or clusters, artists and arts workers, arts and cultural organisations and professional associations. Projects must involve collaboration between education and arts sectors.  Funding of up to $20,000 per project is available and projects must deliver on the aims and objectives of the AIR program and meet the Selection Criteria identified in the 2010 Guidelines.             <description>The British Council Realise Your Dream Awards celebrate excellence in the arts and creative industries, offering talented Australians the chance to further their careers in the UK. Now in its eighth year, Realise Your Dream provides financial and professional support to help the winners make lasting connections and expand their horizons in one of the world’s most vibrant cultural settings. Five awards will be offered in 2010 to candidates in the early stages of their careers. They will each be flown to the UK and given an $8,000 NAB Cash Passport to assist with expenses. Most importantly, the British Council taps its network of the UK’s finest creatives to help craft a tailored professional development program for each of the five winners. Eurobodalla Shire Council in partnership with the South East Art Region (SEAR) is pleased to present The Art of Digitising workshop. How do you digitise and publish your artwork electronically? Learn some of the tricks of the process in getting a true depiction of your work from photomedia specialist, Rewa Nolan. The workshop focuses on producing files for use in electronic submissions for art prizes and web based promotional opportunities. The workshop will run from 10.30am-1.30pm on Wednesday 21 July at La Salle Motel Conference Centre, 153 Princes Hwy, Narooma; from 10am-1pm on Thursday 22 July at Bega Valley Shire Council Chambers, Zingle Place, Bega; and from 9am-12noon at the Past Times Conference Centre, 583 Snowy Mountains Hwy, Cooma.
